1. Service Description

logging.cheap is a log aggregation software-as-a-service (SaaS). The service allows you to ingest application logs via the OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP), store them durably, and search through them using a web interface. The service is designed to provide cost-effective log storage and retrieval for development teams and organizations.

2. Account Registration

To use logging.cheap, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and a secure password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

Each individual may maintain only one account. You must be at least 16 years old to use this service. If you are under 16, you may not create an account or use the service.

3. Acceptable Use

The service is intended for storing and querying application logs. You agree to use the service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws.

The following activities are prohibited:

  • Storing personally identifiable information (PII) such as passwords, social security numbers, credit card numbers, or health records in log message bodies
  • Using the service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Attempting to access, modify, or delete data belonging to other tenants
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the service
  • Interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the service
  • Using the service to transmit malware, viruses, or other malicious code

4. Fair Use & Resource Limits

The service is designed for reasonable log aggregation workloads. We reserve the right to enforce rate limits, storage quotas, or query limits to ensure fair access for all users and to protect the integrity of the service.

Abusive usage patterns — such as using the service as general-purpose file storage, sending excessively large payloads, or running an unreasonable number of queries — may result in temporary or permanent restrictions on your account.

5. Data Ownership & Retention

You retain ownership of all log data you send to the service. We store your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Your log data is retained until you delete it or close your account. For full details on how we handle your data, including storage, processing, and your rights, please refer to the Privacy Policy.

6. Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before suspending or terminating your account, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the service or other users.

You may close your account at any time through your account settings page. Upon account closure, your log data will be deleted within 30 days.

7. Service Availability & Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee any specific uptime or service level. While we strive to maintain high availability, the service may experience downtime for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to your use of the service is limited to the amount of fees you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. For free-tier users, our maximum liability is zero.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.

This limitation of liability does not apply to damages caused by intentional misconduct (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit) pursuant to Art. 100(1) of the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR).

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify active users via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

If you disagree with the updated terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the city of Zurich, Canton of Zurich, Switzerland.

This choice of jurisdiction does not override mandatory consumer protection jurisdiction rules in your country of residence.

11. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the original intent.
